Target Information
GAD-65 및 GAD-67은 group II decarboxylase family에 속하는 효소로, L-glutamic acid로부터 GABA(gamma-aminobutyric acid)를 생성하는 반응의 속도 제한 단계를 촉매한다. 두 단백질 모두 뇌에서 발견되며, GAD-65는 시냅스 소포막에, GAD-67은 세포 전체에 분포한다. GAD-67은 기본적인 GABA 합성에 관여하며, 신경전달 중 GABA 수요가 증가할 때 GAD-65가 활성화되어 보조 역할을 한다. GAD-65의 결핍은 GABA 전달에 장애를 초래할 수 있고, GAD-67의 결핍은 치명적이다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 GAD-67의 두 가지 isoform(GAD-67, GAD-25)이 존재한다.
