MA1-90573 detects Involucrin from non-human primate, porcine, and human samples.
Target Information
Involucrin is a component of the keratinocyte crosslinked envelope, found in the cytoplasm and crosslinked to membrane proteins by transglutaminase. It is expressed in various stratified squamous epithelia, including the cornea.
In normal epidermis, involucrin is first expressed in the upper spinous layers, and in keratinocyte cultures, it is expressed by all cells that have left the basal layer.
Abnormal expression is observed in squamous cell carcinomas and premalignant lesions, with reduced levels in severe dysplasias of the larynx and cervix.
The involucrin gene is mapped to 1q21, among calpactin I light chain, trichohyalin, profillaggrin, loricrin, and calcyclin.
