Slug(SNAI2)은 C2H2-type zinc finger 전사 인자(Snail family)에 속하며, 상피-간엽 전이(EMT) 및 신경관 형성에 관여합니다. FGF, BMP, TGF-β 등의 성장인자에 의해 발현이 유도되며, E-cadherin 및 Claudin-1 유전자의 전사를 억제합니다. 또한 유방암, 식도암, 대장암 등에서 높은 발현이 불량한 예후와 연관되어 있습니다. Slug는 p53 매개 Puma 전사를 억제하여 조혈 전구세포를 방사선 유도 세포사멸로부터 보호할 수 있습니다.
