GBA3는 주로 간에서 발현되는 효소로, β-D-glucoside 및 β-D-galactoside를 효율적으로 가수분해하지만, 생리적으로 알려진 β-glycoside에는 작용하지 않습니다. 이는 식물성 glycoside의 해독 과정에 관여할 가능성을 시사합니다. 또한 GBA3는 중성 glycosylceramidase 활성을 가지며 (EC 3.2.1.62), glucosylceramide 대사의 비리소좀성 분해 경로에 참여할 수 있습니다.
