Target Information
Copper (Cu) is an essential trace metal acting as a cofactor for various enzymes in mammalian cells. Genetic disorders such as Menkes and Wilson diseases result from disrupted Cu homeostasis. CTR1 is a high-affinity copper uptake protein, serving as the primary pathway for copper absorption in mammalian cells and influencing Cu balance and embryonic development. The C-terminal domain shows similarity to Raf family kinases, while the N-terminal region encodes a unique protein domain.
