Peroxin 3 (PEX3, peroxisomal biogenesis factor 3, TRG18)는 373개의 아미노산으로 구성된 multi-pass membrane 단백질로, peroxisome에 존재하며 Peroxin family에 속합니다.
Peroxin 3는 Peroxin 19와 상호작용하며 peroxisome 생합성, 막 소포 형성, peroxisomal 무결성 유지에 관여합니다. 또한 Peroxin 19의 도킹 인자로 작용하며 peroxisomal 단백질의 수입에 필수적입니다.
PEX3 유전자 결함은 peroxisome biogenesis disorder complementation group 12 (PBD-CG12) 및 Zellweger syndrome (ZwS)의 원인이 됩니다.
