Product Specific Information
This peptide corresponds to 17 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of human RAP80.
PEP-0530 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20413.
Target Information
RAP80 was initially identified as a zinc-finger containing nuclear protein highly expressed in testis and interacting with the retinoid-related testis-associated receptor (RTR).
Later experiments revealed that RAP80 is recruited by Coiled-coil domain 98 (CCDC98) to the breast cancer-1 protein BRCA1, enabling BRCA1 foci formation in response to DNA damage from ionizing radiation.
Both RAP80 and CCDC98 are required for DNA damage resistance, G2-M checkpoint control, and DNA repair.
Cells depleted of RAP80 or CCDC98 show increased sensitivity to ionizing radiation, though less than BRCA1-depleted cells, suggesting RAP80 and CCDC98 mediate part of BRCA1’s DNA damage response.
At least four isoforms of RAP80 are known.
