Target Information
Mitofilin is a transmembrane protein of the inner mitochondrial membrane and is associated with a large multimeric protein complex (~1200 kDa). It plays critical roles in mitochondrial morphology, fusion, and fission, particularly in forming tubular cristae and cristae junctions.
Abnormal mitochondrial morphology has been linked to various human diseases, including myopathy, cardiomyopathy, rhabdomyosarcoma, and Whartin’s tumor.
