Target Information
The PKC family of serine/threonine kinases, including PRKCE (PKC epsilon), is activated by intracellular signal transduction pathways. In humans, at least 12 PKC isoforms have been identified, differing in structure, tissue distribution, localization, and activation mechanisms. Conventional isoforms (PKC alpha, beta I, beta II, gamma) are Ca²⁺- and phospholipid-dependent. PKC family members phosphorylate numerous protein targets and act as receptors for phorbol esters, which are tumor promoters. Each isoform has distinct cellular roles and expression profiles.
