Target Information
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains characterized by the unique role of zinc and have diverse functions such as transcriptional activation or repression. The protein folding and DNA-binding ability are governed by zinc ion coordination.
ZMYM1, a member of the MYM (myeloproliferative and mental retardation) gene family, is widely expressed in eukaryotic tissues in multiple splicing variants. Although its function remains unclear, the related protein ZMYM2 associates with and stabilizes the LSD1-CoREST-HDAC1 (LCH) chromatin complex, enhancing transcriptional repression of several genes. ZMYM1 may play a similar role.
