Target Information
NR2E3, also known as NR2 Hepatocyte NF4-Like Receptor, is implicated in cone cell proliferation during eye development. It plays a role in determining photoreceptor phenotype during human retinogenesis. In RD7 mice, deletion of NR2E3 causes hereditary retinal dysplasia and degeneration. A homozygous missense mutation has been associated with retinitis pigmentosa in certain populations. Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been identified, and NR2E3 is expressed in the retina. ESTs have been isolated from cancerous human lung, colon, and ovary, as well as normal human eye tissues.
