Product Specific Information
- Reconstitution: Add 25 µL, 50 µL, or 0.2 mL of double distilled water (DDW), depending on sample size.
- The antibody ships as a lyophilized powder at room temperature.
- Upon arrival, store at -20°C.
- Reconstituted solution can be stored at 4°C for up to 1 week.
- For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C.
- Avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
- Centrifuge all antibody preparations before use (10,000 × g, 5 min).
Target Information
Sodium/calcium exchanger proteins are integral membrane proteins primarily found in cardiac cells. In cardiac myocytes, Ca²⁺ concentration fluctuates between low levels during relaxation and high levels during contraction.
The Na⁺/Ca²⁺ exchanger 1 (NCX1) mediates Ca²⁺ extrusion from cardiac cells during relaxation. Four NCX1 isoforms (NCX1.1, NCX1.3, NCX1.7, and NCX1.10) arise from alternative splicing.
NCX1 mRNA is abundant in the heart, with lower levels in the brain. NCX2, in contrast, is most abundantly expressed in the brain. The differing expression patterns of NCX1 and NCX2 suggest distinct physiological roles.
Regulatory mechanisms for these exchangers are not yet fully characterized.
