Target Information
S100A9 (MRP-14) belongs to the S100 family of proteins containing two EF-hand calcium-binding motifs.
S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of various cells and are involved in regulating cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation.
S100 gene family includes at least 13 members clustered on chromosome 1q21.
S100A9 may function in the inhibition of casein kinase, and altered expression is associated with diseases such as cystic fibrosis.
