Mouse anti-Pig CD45RA, clone MIL13, recognizes an epitope contained in the portion of porcine CD45 encoded by exon A, CD45RA (Lunney et al. 2007).
Target Information
CD45RA is an isoform of the CD45 complex and has restricted expression among different lymphoid cell subtypes. CD45 (LCA, leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase expressed in all nucleated hematopoietic cells, comprising about 10% of lymphocyte surface proteins.
CD45 glycoprotein is essential in lymphocyte development and antigen signaling, regulating Src-family kinases. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing, differing in extracellular domains but sharing identical transmembrane and cytoplasmic regions.
CD45 isoforms vary in membrane domain localization and expression depending on cell type and physiological state. Beyond immunoreceptor signaling, CD45 supports cell survival via integrin-mediated pathways and is involved in apoptosis-related DNA fragmentation.
CD45 is expressed on human hematopoietic lineage cells (except mature red cells) and absent in differentiated non-hematopoietic tissues. Dysfunction of CD45 is linked to diseases such as severe combined immunodeficiency and Hepatitis C.
