Target Information
The HOXC11 gene belongs to the homeobox family of genes, which encode transcription factors essential for morphogenesis in multicellular organisms. Mammals have four similar homeobox clusters (HOXA, HOXB, HOXC, and HOXD) located on different chromosomes, each containing 9–11 genes. HOXC11, located on chromosome 12, binds to the promoter element of lactase-phlorizin hydrolase and may play a role in early intestinal development. An alternatively spliced variant encoding a shorter isoform has been described, though its full-length form remains undetermined.
