Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the family of cytoplasmic linker proteins, which mediate interactions between specific membranous organelles and microtubules. This protein associates with both microtubules and the dendritic lamellar body. The gene is hemizygously deleted in Williams syndrome, a developmental disorder caused by deletion of contiguous genes at 7q11.23. Alternative splicing generates two transcript variants.
