Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

The asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR) is a transmembrane glycoprotein (~42 kDa) that mediates binding, internalization, and degradation of extracellular glycoproteins with exposed terminal galactose residues. It is expressed on hepatocyte surfaces in a polar manner — present on sinusoidal and lateral plasma membranes but absent on the bile canalicular membrane.

In mammals, hepatic ASGPR mediates endocytosis and degradation of serum proteins lacking terminal sialic residues. The rat ASGPR comprises three subunits: RHL-1, RHL-2, and RHL-3. The monoclonal antibody 8D7 recognizes a subunit-specific epitope of RHL-1 of rat ASGPR and is cross-reactive with human ASGPR.
