Target Information
PROP1 encodes a paired-like homeodomain transcription factor expressed in the developing pituitary gland.
Its expression precedes and regulates the pou domain transcription factor 1, which controls pituitary development and hormone expression.
Mutations in PROP1 are associated with combined pituitary hormone deficiency-2 and deficiencies in luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, growth hormone, prolactin, and thyroid-stimulating hormone.
