Target Information
The three KINDLINs are a novel family of focal adhesion proteins that localize to integrin adhesion sites. These proteins contain a centrally located FERM domain interrupted by a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain.
KINDLIN1 and KINDLIN2 are essential for integrin-mediated adhesion and spreading, while KINDLIN3 is restricted to hematopoietic cells, especially abundant in megakaryocytes and platelets.
Misregulation of KINDLINs has been reported in various cancers. KINDLIN3 is crucial for platelet integrin activation and outside-in signaling, suggesting potential as a therapeutic target for modulating integrin activation in platelets and leukocytes.
