Product Specific Information
- In sandwich ELISAs, no cross-reactivity with recombinant human M-CSF, recombinant mouse SCF, Flt-3 Ligand, G-CSF, and GM-CSF is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
M-CSF (Macrophage colony-stimulating factor, CSF-1) is a survival factor essential for the proliferation and development of monocytes, macrophages, and osteoclast progenitor cells.
M-CSF induces VEGF secretion by macrophages, promoting endothelial progenitor cell mobilization and neovascularization.
It exists as multiple bioactive isoforms differing in potency and stability. The full-length protein is membrane-spanning and can be expressed on the cell surface or cleaved in the secretory vesicle.
M-CSF forms a disulfide-bonded homodimer processed into glycoprotein or proteoglycan isoforms.
Binding to its receptor c-Fms (CSF-1R/CD115) triggers receptor dimerization, internalization, and degradation.
Functionally, M-CSF stimulates differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells into monocyte-macrophage populations.
Human M-CSF shows activity on mouse cells, but mouse CSF has no activity on human cells.
