Target Information
KRT16은 케라틴 유전자 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 상피세포의 구조적 안정성을 담당하는 중간 필라멘트 단백질이다. 대부분의 Type I 세포케라틴은 산성 단백질로 구성되어 있으며, 이들은 이형 케라틴 사슬의 쌍으로 배열되어 염색체 17q12–q21 영역에 군집되어 있다.
KRT16은 케라틴 14와 함께 식도, 혀, 모낭 등 다양한 상피 조직에서 공동 발현되며, 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 Type 1 pachyonychia congenita, non-epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma, unilateral palmoplantar verrucous nevus와 관련이 있다.
