Description:
Anti-Human IFN-alpha (EBI-1) inhibits the antiviral activity of interferon alpha. BMS160 specifically reacts with human recombinant and natural interferon alpha and can be used as a capture antibody in ELISA.
Applications Tested: ELISA, Functional Studies (Blocking)

Target Information
IFN alpha (Interferon alpha) is a Type I interferon belonging to a family of structurally related, species-specific proteins exclusive to vertebrates. Its interaction with receptor components activates signaling pathways involved in innate immune responses against viral infections.
In humans, the IFN alpha gene is located on chromosome 9. Type I interferons include 14 alpha isoforms and single beta, omega, epsilon, and kappa isoforms. Homologous molecules are found in many species, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish.
IFN alpha is primarily produced by plasmacytoid dendritic cells, plays a key role in antiviral innate immunity, and modulates adaptive immune responses. Dysregulation of IFN alpha is associated with diseases such as Hepatitis C and Hepatitis.
