Target Information
CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 have been linked to cancer. Upon DNA damage, CHK2 phosphorylates several modulators of cell cycle control, including tumor suppressor proteins such as BRCA1, enabling DNA repair and cell survival. CHK2 is considered a tumor suppressor, and mutations are associated with Li-Fraumeni syndrome, sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
