Target Information
TYW1 (also known as TYW1A, RSAFD1, YPL207W) is a 732 amino acid protein containing a flavodoxin-like domain involved in the wybutosine-tRNA (Phe) biosynthesis pathway. Wybutosine (yW) is a hypermodified guanosine adjacent to the anticodon of phenylalanine tRNA that stabilizes codon–anticodon interactions during ribosomal decoding.
TYW1 participates in a multistep enzymatic reaction that ensures accurate translation by stabilizing codon–anticodon base pairing. It binds to a 4Fe-4S cluster and is located on human chromosome 7.
Defects in genes on chromosome 7 are associated with conditions such as Osteogenesis imperfecta, Williams-Beuren syndrome, Lissencephaly, Citrullinemia, and Shwachman-Diamond syndrome, suggesting a potential role for TYW1 in these disorders.
