The Serum Creatinine Colorimetric Detection Kit is designed to detect and quantify the level of creatinine in serum and plasma samples. The assay is validated for human, mouse, rabbit, rat, and sheep serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma samples.

This complete, ready-to-use kit includes two clear 96-well plates, creatinine standard, assay diluent, and other components required to perform the assay. A 96-well microplate reader capable of reading optical density at 490 nm is required.

Performance Characteristics

Assay Principle

The Serum Creatinine Colorimetric Detection Kit quantitatively measures creatinine present in serum samples. A creatinine standard, calibrated to a NIST creatinine standard, is provided to generate a standard curve for the assay. All samples are read against this standard curve.

Standards or samples are pipetted into a clear microtiter plate, followed by the addition of assay diluent. The color-generating reaction is initiated by adding the Creatinine Reagent to each well.

The assay utilizes a kinetic absorbance method to overcome interference by colored compounds in serum. Absorbance of the colored product is read after 1 minute at 490 nm, and again at 30 minutes. The concentration of creatinine is calculated using the difference (ΔOD) between the two readings compared to the standard curve.
