Target Information
CAMSAP3 is a key microtubule-organizing protein that specifically binds the minus-end of non-centrosomal microtubules and regulates their dynamics and organization. It recognizes growing microtubule minus-ends, stabilizes microtubule lattices, and protects them from depolymerization. CAMSAP3 is required for zonula adherens biogenesis and maintenance by anchoring microtubule minus-ends and recruiting kinesin KIFC3. It orients apical-to-basal microtubule polarity in epithelial cells, plays essential roles in early embryonic development, and links microtubules to actin filaments through interaction with MACF1, influencing focal adhesion and cell migration. CAMSAP3 also contributes to organelle organization, including the Golgi and early endosomes, and participates in Golgi vesicle translocation via interaction with AKAP9.
