Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum, purified human serum albumin IgG, and human serum. Cross-reactivity against albumin from other tissues and species may occur but has not been specifically determined.

Target Information

Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein (~65–67 kDa) comprising about half of blood serum protein. Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in human plasma, with a serum half-life of approximately 20 days. It functions as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones, and helps stabilize extracellular fluid volume.

Albumin is synthesized in the liver as pre-pro-albumin, which has an N-terminal peptide removed before secretion. It binds water, Ca²⁺, Na⁺, K⁺, fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, and drugs, playing a key role in regulating the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood.
