Target Information
The WNT gene family encodes secreted signaling proteins involved in oncogenesis and developmental processes such as cell fate regulation and patterning during embryogenesis.
This gene encodes a protein showing 95%, 86%, and 71% amino acid identity to mouse, zebrafish, and Xenopus Wnt8B proteins, respectively.
Expression is restricted to the developing brain, and its chromosomal location (10q24) suggests it may be a candidate gene for partial epilepsy.
