Target Information
Ankyrin-G is found in several tissues including the brain, where it is expressed as two different isoforms due to tissue-specific RNA processing. These isoforms localize to axon initial segments and nodes of Ranvier. Ankyrin-G is also present at epithelial cell-cell contact sites and in intracellular membranes. It contains a unique serine/threonine-rich sequence following a globular head domain and is thought to play a role in maintaining and targeting ion channels and cell adhesion molecules to the nodes of Ranvier and axon initial segments.
