Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the LAR protein-tyrosine phosphatase-interacting protein (liprin) family. Liprins interact with members of the LAR family of transmembrane protein tyrosine phosphatases, which play roles in axon guidance and mammary gland development. Liprins act as scaffold proteins forming complex structures for recruitment and anchoring of LAR phosphatases.
PPFIA2 is closely related to PPFIA1, another liprin family member interacting with LAR phosphatase. Expression of this gene is downregulated by androgens in a prostate cancer cell line.
