TMC7 (Transmembrane channel-like protein 7)은 723개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로, TMC 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다. 모든 TMC 유전자는 세포 내 N-말단과 C-말단을 가지며 최소 8개의 막 관통 도메인을 포함하는 막단백질을 암호화합니다. TMC7은 다중 통과 막단백질로서 이온 채널 또는 수송체로 기능하거나 이를 조절할 가능성이 있습니다. TMC7 유전자는 인간 염색체 16번에 위치하며, 이 염색체는 약 900개 이상의 유전자를 포함하고 전체 유전체의 약 3%를 차지합니다. 이 염색체에는 Giant Axonal Neuropathy(GAN), Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome, Crohn’s Disease 등과 관련된 유전자도 포함되어 있습니다.
