Target Information
TRPA1 is a TRP-related channel responsive to cold temperatures and pungent compounds, playing roles in nociceptor and hair cell transduction. It is expressed in lung epithelia and sensory neurons, and its dysregulation has been linked to oncogenic transformation. Blocking TRPA1 may serve as a therapeutic target for cold hyperalgesia caused by inflammation and nerve damage. The protein shares structural similarity with ankyrin and transmembrane proteins, and may function in signal transduction and growth control.
