Leucine-rich repeat transmembrane neuronal proteins (LRRTMs)는 신경계에서 차등적으로 발현되며, 시냅스 전 및 시냅스 후의 글루탐산성 분화에 관여합니다.
LRRTM1과 LRRTM2는 시냅스 전 분화를 유도하는 데 가장 강력한 단백질로 알려져 있습니다.
각 LRRTM 단백질은 10개의 세포외 leucine-rich 반복과 짧은 세포내 꼬리를 가진 type I 막단백질이며, 발달 단계에 따라 고유한 발현 패턴을 가집니다.
LRRTM1은 모계로부터 억제되고 부계로부터 발현되는 유전자로, 손잡이 및 정신분열증과의 연관성이 보고되었습니다.
