Target Information
This gene encodes an activating transcription factor belonging to the ATF subfamily and bZIP (basic-region leucine zipper) family. It regulates downstream target genes related to growth, survival, and other cellular activities. Phosphorylation at serine 63 enhances transactivation and transcriptional activity, contributing to cell transformation. Gene fusions with FUS (chromosome 16) or EWSR1 (chromosome 22) result in chimeric proteins found in angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and clear cell sarcoma. A pseudogene exists on chromosome 6.
