Target Information
CD137 ligand (CD137L) is a type II membrane protein and a member of the TNF superfamily. It acts as a co-stimulatory molecule expressed on antigen-presenting cells (such as dendritic cells, monocytes/macrophages, and B cells) and is upregulated upon activation.
Its receptor, CD137 (4-1BB), is expressed on various cell types, including inflamed endothelial cells and activated T cells. Interaction between CD137L and CD137 enhances T cell proliferation, IL-2 secretion, survival, and cytotoxic activity.
CD137L is expressed on most B-cell lymphomas (mantle cell, follicular, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma) but is absent in Hodgkin and T-cell lymphomas. It is also found in carcinoma cell lines and may play a role in T cell–tumor cell interactions.
