• Immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed):
  Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (MW 45–58 kDa) of the human T-lymphocyte lineage, expressed on nearly all peripheral blood T cells and some natural killer cells, but not on B lymphocytes.
Monoclonal antibodies against CD2 inhibit rosette formation with sheep erythrocytes, indicating CD2 functions as or associates with the erythrocyte receptor.
The CD2–CD58 interaction stabilizes adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting or target cells.
Low-affinity CD2–CD58 binding in solution is compensated at the cell interface to provide tight adhesion.
T-cell activation increases CD2 expression and mobility, facilitating contact and strengthening intercellular adhesion.
CD2 deficiency reduces intestinal inflammation and aids infection control.
Diseases associated with CD2 dysfunction include penile squamous cell carcinoma and immune deficiency due to thymus absence.
