Target Information
Rheb encodes a member of the small GTPase superfamily and produces a lipid-anchored, cell membrane protein containing five repeats of the RAS-related GTP-binding region. This protein is essential for growth and cell cycle regulation via the insulin/TOR/S6K signaling pathway. It exhibits GTPase activity and alternates between GDP- and GTP-bound forms, with farnesylation required for its function. Three pseudogenes have been identified—two on chromosome 10 and one on chromosome 22.
