Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F-box. F-box proteins form part of the SCF (SKP1-cullin-F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex, functioning in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
They are classified into three groups:
- Fbws: containing WD-40 domains
- Fbls: containing leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs: containing other protein-protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
The encoded protein belongs to the Fbws class and includes multiple WD40 repeats. This gene has at least 14 exons, and alternative splicing produces three transcript variants differing by the presence or absence of two alternate exons.
