Target Information
BNIP1 (BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kDa-interacting protein 1) belongs to the BNIP family. It interacts with the E1B 19 kDa protein, which protects against virally induced cell death, and with BCL2-like sequences that act as apoptotic protectors.
Alternative splicing of this gene produces four variants of unknown function.
Transcript variant BNIP1 contains the full coding region and a conserved BH3 domain associated with pro-apoptotic activity.
