Target Information
Specifically recognizes and binds N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-containing mRNAs, promoting mRNA translation efficiency (PubMed:24284625, 26046440, 26318451).
M6A is a modification found at internal sites of mRNAs and some non-coding RNAs, influencing splicing, processing, and stability.
YTHDF1 acts as a regulator of mRNA translation efficiency by promoting ribosome loading to m6A-containing mRNAs and interacting with translation initiation factors eIF3 (EIF3A or EIF3B).
It facilitates learning and memory formation in the hippocampus by enhancing translation of neuronal mRNAs upon stimulation.
Additionally, it regulates axon guidance via m6A-containing ROBO3 transcripts and serves as a negative regulator of antigen cross-presentation in myeloid dendritic cells, contributing to tumor immune evasion by reducing antigen presentation efficiency.
