Target Information
Neuromedin U (NmU) is a vertebrate peptide that stimulates uterine smooth muscle contraction and causes selective vasoconstriction. It is proteolytically processed from a larger precursor protein, producing mature peptides of 8 (NmU-8) to 25 (NmU-25) residues, which are C-terminally amidated. The C-terminal sequence of NmU is highly conserved across species.
