Target Information

CD137 ligand (CD137L) is a type II membrane protein and part of the TNF superfamily. It acts as a co-stimulatory molecule expressed on antigen-presenting cells such as dendritic cells, monocytes/macrophages, and B cells, and is upregulated upon activation.
Its receptor, CD137 (4-1BB), is expressed on various cells including activated T cells and inflamed endothelial cells. Interaction between CD137 and CD137L enhances T cell proliferation, IL-2 secretion, survival, and cytotoxic activity.
CD137L is also expressed on most B-cell lymphomas (mantle cell, follicular, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma) but is absent in Hodgkin and T-cell lymphomas. Additionally, it is found in carcinoma cell lines and may play a role in T cell–tumor cell interactions.
