The C18.2 antibody reacts with the p35 subunit of mouse interleukin-12 (IL-12). IL-12 is a heterodimeric 70 kD cytokine composed of two glycosylated chains, p40 and p35, mainly produced by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It induces interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) production, cell proliferation, and cytotoxicity mediated by NK cells and T cells, and plays a key role in Th1 responses.

Applications Tested:
Used as a capture antibody in sandwich ELISA for bioactive mouse IL-12 p70 detection, in combination with biotinylated C17.8 antibody (Product # 13-7123-81) and recombinant IL-12 p70 standard (Product # 14-8121-62).
Recommended ELISA capture concentration: 1–4 µg/mL.
Standard curve range: 2000 pg/mL – 15 pg/mL.

Target Information

Interleukin 12A (IL-12A) is a signaling cytokine in the Interleukin-6 superfamily. It forms the 35-kD alpha subunit of IL-12 and exhibits diverse biological activities, including stimulation of IFN-γ production, enhancement of NK cell cytotoxicity, and regulation of Th1/Th2 differentiation. IL-12A also participates in Stat4 phosphorylation and nitric oxide synthase 2A signaling. Together with EBI3, IL-12A forms IL-35, a regulatory cytokine produced by Treg cells for suppressive immune function.
