Target Information
ZDHHC7 is a protein coding gene functioning as a palmitoyltransferase with broad substrate specificity. It palmitoylates JAM3, SNAP25, and DLG4/PSD95, as well as sex steroid hormone receptors including ESR1, PGR, and AR. This modification regulates receptor localization to the plasma membrane and modulates rapid intracellular signaling upon hormone binding. ZDHHC7 may also play a role in follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) activation of testicular Sertoli cells.
