Target Information
Adenylate Kinase 5 (AK5) is a member of the adenylate kinase family, involved in regulating the adenine nucleotide composition within cells by catalyzing the reversible transfer of phosphate groups among adenine nucleotides. It is related to UMP/CMP kinases of several species, localized in the cytosol, and expressed exclusively in the brain. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
