DDX39B 유전자는 DEAD box RNA-dependent ATPase 계열에 속하며, pre-mRNA 스플라이싱 과정에서 ATP 가수분해를 매개합니다. 이 단백질은 U2 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein과 pre-mRNA의 결합에 필수적인 스플라이싱 인자로서, 핵에서 세포질로의 mRNA 수출에도 중요한 역할을 합니다. BAT1–BAT5 유전자 군은 TNFα 및 TNFβ 유전자 근처, 인간 MHC class III 영역에 위치해 있으며, DDX39B 유전자의 변이는 류머티즘 관절염과 관련될 수 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱된 전사체 변형도 보고되었습니다.
