이 단백질은 항상성 유지와 비만 등 다양한 생리학적 과정에 관여하며, 감소된 adiponectin 수치는 비만, 인슐린 저항성, 제2형 당뇨병과 관련이 있습니다.
마우스 모델에서 adiponectin은 인슐린 신호 전달을 개선하고, AMP kinase 및 PPAR-alpha 활성화를 통해 골격근 내 지방산 수송과 산화를 촉진하여 인슐린 감수성을 향상시킵니다.
