Target Information
GTP-binding proteins are GTPases that function as molecular switches, alternating between an active GTP-bound state and an inactive GDP-bound state. When a ligand binds to a G-protein-linked receptor, the receptor activates trimeric G proteins by facilitating the exchange of GDP for GTP. The active G protein then transmits signals downstream until it hydrolyzes GTP to GDP, returning to the inactive state.
