Target Information
HnRNP A1 belongs to the A/B subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). These are RNA-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). They are associated with pre-mRNAs in the nucleus and influence pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport.
While hnRNPs are primarily nuclear, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. hnRNP A1 has two quasi-RRM domains that bind RNA and is one of the most abundant core proteins of hnRNP complexes, localized to the nucleoplasm. It is exported from the nucleus bound to mRNA and re-imported immediately.
