Target Information
Fibulin 5 is essential for elastic fiber formation and is involved in the assembly of continuous elastin (ELN) polymers. It promotes the interaction between microfibrils and elastin, stabilizing and organizing elastic fibers in the skin, lung, and vasculature. Additionally, it facilitates endothelial cell adhesion via integrin interaction with the RGD motif, acting as a vascular ligand that may contribute to vascular development and remodeling.
